Advice & Assistance

Blaenau Gwent Care & Repair can provide you with free advice, information and support to enable you to continue living independently in your own home in safety and comfort.

Our aim is to listen to your wants and needs and put together a package of information and repair with the necessary support to make it happen. We can offer:

• Personal support and encouragement as you prepare for and deal with the disruption that may be caused by building work.
• Assistance with the completion of forms and other bureaucracy associated with necessary works.
• Access to our other services: Home Repairs – Advice & Support, Minor Adaptations & Safety Works and the Handyperson Service, as necessary.
• Liaison, on your behalf, with other organisations such as Benefits Agency, Housing Benefits, Social Services, Grants Department, Utilities, and Insurance Companies, as required.
• Help with access to other sources of funding, whenever possible, including benevolent funding and home insulation schemes via British Gas and the Eaga Partnership.
• Referrals to other agencies providing housing, repair and community care services, wherever appropriate.

Maximizing Your Income

The Agency can assist you in maximizing your income with a free Benefit Health Check. Our caseworker can:

• provide you with a free benefit assessment to ensure you are receiving the benefits you are entitled to,
• assist you to complete the relevant forms for benefits that you may be entitled to, and:
• liaise with the Benefits Agency, Housing Benefit, or Council Tax on your behalf.
